Green INSTRUCT present at 5th International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management (ATHENS2017), 21–24 June 2017, Athens, Greece

The ATHENS2017 conference (http://athens2017.uest.gr/) was held in Athens, Greece during 21-24 June 2017 and its aim was to address the significant issue of sustainable solid waste management through the promotion of safe practices & effective technologies. It provided the opportunity to bring together scientists & professionals from government departments, industries, Municipalities, private institutions, research & education institutions, being a forum for the exchange of the most recent ideas, techniques & experiences in all areas of solid waste management. A special workshop was focused on the industrial operation and the support to the industries in order to improve their performance with parallel environmental and financial benefits. More than 600 participants from around the globe were attended the ATHENS 2017 conference.

NTUA presented an altenative way for the valorization of the aluminosilicate CDWs and their transformation to novel building materials which will be applied in the Green INSTRUCT project.

Green INSTRUCT promoted during the 2nd International RILEM Workshop on Rheology and Digital Fabrication of Cement-based Materials, 09/06/2017, Brunel University, UK

Green INSTRUCT project was disseminated broadly to the audience of the 2nd International RILEM workshop and Digital Fabrication of Cement-based Materials, which has hosted at the premised of Brunel University on Friday 9 June 2017.

Digital fabrication of cementitious materials, which includes extrusion and 3D printing, has been a recent focus in civil engineering, chemistry, electro-mechanics and other subjects due to its versatility and continuous manufacturing capability. Particularly, 3D printed concrete is a new branch of digital fabrication, having become a newly developing branch of construction and an abundant source of technology innovations. With surging interest in Digital Fabrication with cementitious materials, UBRUN was given the pleasure to host the 2nd International RILEM Workshop on Rheology and Digital Fabrication of Cement-based Materials.

With the display of a large banner and distribution of flyers, this opportunity was advantageously used to promote the activities of the Green INSTRUCT Project and relevant research on extrusion.
