The ATHENS2017 conference (http://athens2017.uest.gr/) was held in Athens, Greece during 21-24 June 2017 and its aim was to address the significant issue of sustainable solid waste management through the promotion of safe practices & effective technologies. It provided the opportunity to bring together scientists & professionals from government departments, industries, Municipalities, private institutions, research & education institutions, being a forum for the exchange of the most recent ideas, techniques & experiences in all areas of solid waste management. A special workshop was focused on the industrial operation and the support to the industries in order to improve their performance with parallel environmental and financial benefits. More than 600 participants from around the globe were attended the ATHENS 2017 conference.

NTUA presented an altenative way for the valorization of the aluminosilicate CDWs and their transformation to novel building materials which will be applied in the Green INSTRUCT project.

The Green INSTRUCT project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 723825.
