Green INSTRUCT present at European Researchers’ Night, 29 September 2017, Vienna, Austria.

On September 29, 2017 alchemia-nova presented the functional green wall panel at the European Researchers’ Night at “Technologisches Gewerbemuseum” in Vienna. Researchers from universities, research institutes and private companies contributed to the transfer of scientific knowledge to students in 20 workshops and with over 50 booths.

Among the 3.500 visitors, the audience appreciated the possibility to talk to scientists and innovators face to face, while especially young students enjoyed being a researcher for a day. At alchemia-nova’s interactive booth, visitors were invited to mix artificial greywater with soap, shower gel, deodorant and so on and then poor the mix in the green facade structure. The panel simulated the water purification process and enthused the audience. The team of alchemia-nova explained how plants and microoranisms in a green façade are able to purify domestic and industrial waste water which can then be used to flush toilets or water the garden.

Green INSTRUCT present at European Researchers Night, 29 September 2017, Athens, Greece

The European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide public event dedicated to popular science and fun learning. It takes place each year on the last Friday in September. 1,500,000 visitors at around 30 countries and over 300 cities are involved each year, in an institution that holds 12 years.

Greece is consistent in its appointment and has been in charge of organizing events since the start of the event in 2005. This year, 11 events were planned in 9 Greek cities covering geographically all over the country. In particular, on Friday, September 29, events were organized in the following cities: Athens (a. National Technical University of Athens and b. Hellenic Cosmos Center for Culture), Thessaloniki, Patras, Heraklion (a. Foundation for Research and Technology – HELLAS and b. CretAquarium), Rethimno, Karditsa, Xanthi, Corinth and Kalamata.

In the event organized by National Technical University of Athens, the NTUA group had the opportunity to inform and familiarize the public with activities of the Green INSTRUCT Project through the display of a Green INSTRUCT poster and the distribution of flyers.
