“Global Challenges – the Impact of Life Sciences”
The annual Euro League for Life Science Student Conference took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, between the 17 and 18 November 2017. The conference emphasis this year lay on “Global Challenges – the Impact of Life Sciences”, subdivided in the three topics
- Global Health – Humans, Animals, Plants and Environment
- Food – Quality, Production and Safety
- Collaboration in Life Sciences – Enabling Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Students from the participating universities (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna; University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Science; Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences; University of Hohenheim; Wageningen University and Research Centre; Czech University of Life Sciences Prague; Warsaw University of Life Sciences) were given the opportunity to present their Bachelor- or Masterthesis in oral presentation or poster sessions. The interdisciplinarity approach of the conference generated to new perspectives on how to overcome occurring problems of some scientific works. Additionally, selected keynote speakers from the FAO and participants of the COP23 UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn were invited to discuss topics ranging from food security to the implementation of the SDGs in the industry.
A summary of the masterthesis being realized within the GreenINSTRUCT project was presented in a poster session with the topic “Global Health – Humans, Animals, Plants and Environment”, raising awareness regarding water scarcity and circular economy.
